Get Ready for Another Epic Dystopian Adventure!

Suzanne Collins is back! The renowned author of the globally adored Hunger Games series has officially announced the release of the fifth book in the series titled Sunrise on the Reaping, on March 18, 2025.

This exciting news has already sent waves of anticipation through the fanbase and beyond.

Here’s what we know about the book so far?

Scholastic revealed that Sunrise on the Reaping will be the fifth book in Collins’ blockbuster series. Set 24 years before the original The Hunger Games and 40 years after The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the novel will begin with the reaping of the Fiftieth Hunger Games. The announcement has already reignited the fervour for the series, with fans eagerly awaiting the return to the dystopian Panem country.

According to the Associated Press, for Sunrise on the Reaping, Collins has drawn inspiration from the Scottish Enlightenment philosopher David Hume, particularly his ideas on implicit submission and the power dynamics between the governed and the governing. Collins promises a deeper exploration of propaganda and narrative control, themes that resonate strongly in today’s world.

The Legacy of 'The Hunger Games'_

Since its debut in 2008, The Hunger Games series has become a global sensation. The original trilogy—The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay—introduced us to Katniss Everdeen, brilliantly portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence in the film adaptations. These movies, directed by Gary Ross and Francis Lawrence, grossed over $2.97 billion worldwide and became cultural landmarks.

In 2020, Collins expanded the universe with The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, a prequel set 64 years before the first book, focusing on a young President Snow. This addition enriched the lore and provided fans with a fresh perspective on the origins of Panem’s dark traditions.
