What is the SSC GD exam?

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) holds the SSC GD exam every year to select candidates for the post of General Duty (GD) Constables in various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), such as:

  1. National Investigation Agency (NIA).
  2. Border Security Force (BSF).
  3. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
  4. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
  5. Secretariat Security Force (SSF).
  6. Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
  7. Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
  8. Rifleman in Assam Rifles (General Duty).

Who can take the SSC GD 2024 exam?

Before applying for the position, a candidate must meet a few eligibility criteria:

Nationality:

  • The applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • The candidate must also possess domicile/ PRC against his/her state/ UT.

Educational Qualifications: Candidates must have completed or passed either the 10th grade or Matriculation from a recognized board or university.

Age Limit & Relaxation: The minimum and maximum ages, as well as any age relaxation given to candidates who are under the maximum age, are all given below.

What is the exam pattern for SSC GD 2022?

For the SSC GD exam, Staff Selection Commission (SSC) adheres to a set pattern that is thoroughly described in the official notification.

 

(1) COMPUTER BASED EXAM (CBE) OR ONLINE EXAM: It has Objective and Multiple-choice questions in following 4 sections:

a. The exam will consist of 80 questions of the objective multiple-choice question.

b. Each question will be scored +2 points.

c. Each wrong answer will receive a negative score of 0.50 marks.

d. Exam will be offered in both English and Hindi.

(2) PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TEST (PET): The physical efficiency test will follow the following pattern:

Important points for GD Exam Cut Off:

  1. For PET/PST, candidates are generally shortlisted in a ratio of about 1:10 (vacancy: candidates).
  2. Ex-Servicemen and General candidates who receive less than 35% of the marks and SC/ST/OBC candidates who receive less than 33% of the marks are both regarded qualified for the PET/PST short list.
  3. Based on the normalised marks that candidates received in the CBE, candidates are selected for the PET/PST.
  4. In a similarly, candidates will be chosen for the Final Merit List based on normalised grades.
