Syllabus for SSC CHSL 2024

The Tier I exam

The syllabus for the Tier 1 exam is as follows- English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness.  

a. The English Language section will test the candidate’s understanding of the English language, including grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing ability.

b. The General Intelligence section will test the candidate’s logical and reasoning skills.

c. The Quantitative Aptitude section will test the candidate’s numerical and mathematical ability.  

d. The General Awareness section will test the candidate’s knowledge of current affairs, history, geography, economics, and general science. 

The Tier II exam

The candidate will have to write an essay and a letter/application in 1 hour. The essay will be of 200-250 words and the letter/application will be of 150-200 words. 

The Tier III exam

The candidate will have to type at a speed of 35 words per minute for English and 30 words per minute for Hindi in 10 minutes.

SSC CHSL 2024 Exam Pattern

The SSC CHSL 2023 exam will be conducted in three stages – Tier I which is a computer-based examination, Tier II is a descriptive paper, and Tier III is a typing/skill test 

 

The Tier I exam

The candidate will have to write an essay and a letter/application in 1 hour. The essay will be of 200-250 words and the letter/application will be of 150-200 words.

The Tier II exam

  • Tier II exam will be a descriptive paper that will test the candidate’s writing skills in English or Hindi.  
  • Questions on writing essay/letter applications will be asked in this paper.
  • The exam will be of 100 marks and will have duration of 1 hour. Candidates must score a minimum of 33% marks to qualify for the next stage. 

The Tier III exam

  • This exam is a skill test or typing test that will evaluate the candidate’s ability to type in English or Hindi.  
  • The typing test will be conducted for the LDC/JSA/Postal assistants and sorting assistant positions. 
  • The English typing speed should be 35 words per minute, while the Hindustani typing speed should be 30 words per minute. The duration of the exam will be 10 minutes.  
  • The skill exam will apply to the position of Data Entry Operator.  
  • The test will be qualifying, and the final merit list will be based solely on the candidate’s performance in Tier I and II examinations.

Candidates should be aware that there will be negative markings in the Tier I test. For each incorrect answer, 0.50 marks will be deducted from the total score. However, there will be no negative marking in the Tier II exam.
