To apply for the AIBE 2024 exam, candidates need to meet certain requirements set by the Bar Council of India (BCI). Below is a simplified breakdown of the key eligibility points.

Educational Qualification:
  • Candidates must have a law degree (either a 3-year LLB or a 5-year integrated LLB) from a university recognized by the BCI.
  • Final-year law students are also eligible to take the exam.
  • Important note: All candidates who earned their law degree from 2009-10 onwards must pass the AIBE to practice law in India.
  • Exemption: Candidates who completed their law degree before 2009-10 are exempt from taking the AIBE.
Enrolment with State Bar Council:
  • As per the latest rules, you no longer need to be enrolled with a State Bar Council before registering for AIBE.
  • Earlier, law graduates had to complete this enrolment process (including submitting documents and fees) before taking the exam, but this is no longer a mandatory step.
No Minimum Marks Required:
  • The good news is that there’s no specific minimum percentage needed to qualify for AIBE. If you have your LLB degree, you can apply.
These eligibility guidelines ensure that aspiring lawyers meet the basic educational standards and help streamline the process to begin practicing law in India.
