What is the difference between JEE Main and Advanced?

JEE Main is the entrance exam for NITs, IIITs and other central and state government institutes; on the other hand, JEE Advanced is the exam for IITs, IISTs and RGIPTs. JEE Advanced can only be taken once a year, although JEE Main can be taken twice a year. Candidates for JEE Main must have completed their 10+2 examination or equivalent, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as mandatory subjects. Unlike other exams, there is no set percentage criterion to appear in JEE Main; but students must pass the qualifying test. However, only the candidates who pass JEE Main are eligible for JEE Advanced. In addition to passing JEE Main, candidates need to adhere to additional requirements such as age restrictions and the maximum number of attempts permitted.

Are AIEEE and JEE the same?

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) initially conducted the All-India Engineering Entrance Examination in 2002. The aim of this exam was to facilitate candidates in getting admitted to top engineering institutions such as National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs). In 2013, the exam was renamed JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) with improved effectiveness and efficiency. JEE has two phases: JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE Main is the old AIEEE and acts as the entrance exam for various NITs, IIITs, and other government-funded technical institutes. JEE Advanced is the next level exam for admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and a few other top engineering colleges in India.

What are the benefits of the JEE exam?

JEE consists of two exams: JEE Main and JEE Advanced, which are significant for all engineering, architects and planning candidates. It is held for anyone who is passionate about pursuing a career in engineering or other technical fields. JEE is the first step towards turning these dreams into reality. It helps the qualified candidates to seek admission into top institutions depending on their scores. Those candidates who successfully qualify JEE Main can take the second round of the exam, which is JEE Advanced, which helps them getting admitted to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

How can I check my JEE Main exam center?

After downloading the admit card from the official NTA website, details about the exam center, date, and shift will be displayed. Candidates should refer to their admit card for specific information.

When is the application deadline for JEE Main 2025 Session 1?

The application form submission for Session 1 is open from October 28, 2024, to November 22, 2024, until 9:00 P.M.

How can I make changes to my JEE Main application form?

The National Testing Agency (NTA) typically opens a correction window post-application submission. Check the official NTA JEE Main website for details on when this window will be available.

For JEE Main 2025, the newly introduced changes underscore the NTA’s commitment to making the exam robust and fairer. Proper preparation, familiarization with the latest exam format, and effective time management will empower candidates to maximize their performance in one of India’s most competitive engineering entrance exams.
